I have a floor 7m wide. My understanding is I'll need to provide an expansion joint to compensate for the boards expansion. I've heard of two implementations:

1. 10mm gap filled with cork.

2. 1 - 1.5mm gaps at regular intervals (every 10 boards or so), so the expansion joint is more distributed rather than in one spot.

Which method is better?

Since the cork will probably stand out I am more interested in the second method, but I don't know if the boards will stick together when the floor is polished.

Can someone advise/share his experience?

Thanks.
