Thread: inspector and new stumps?

I doubt that's going to happen! They do need to inspect, however thye might look at one or two near the outside of the house.

I imagine that reblockers would have a relationship with one private building inspector, so he knows their work and the checks are very quick.

Not sure on the BCA requirements. There are a few inspectors on here who can probably enlighten us on the process.

Dont know of any inspectors that would crawl on there stomach to check every hole. Usually they will check all outside holes, a few inside, you can often tell by the pile of dirt beside the hole, how deep the hole is, also you can get the restumper to put his shovel in the hole to show you the depth.

Also if there is a pile of stumps and no sole plates, you would question the reblocker as to if he has pulled out the sole plates. Depth is usually whatever was existing. No BCA requirements specifically for restumping. Its covered in AS 1684 framing code and 2870 footing code.
