Have used paslode stainless on merbau deck and also shot ND's through it too .. Yes they go through but is that what your asking ... As far as them being a good fastener to use Nd and T nails are useless to hold the boards down.. The stainless paslode ring and screw shank are sold as decking nails but we don't use them as the result is sub standard by our standards but the other week i bumped into another deck guy who uses ND's for his merbau decks so i spose we just prefer quality which none of the gun nails provide

Ask paslode if they stand by there product as we did and you will find although they are sold for decking there is no guarantee on there usage so you are left on your own when they fail ... and they will given time...

C, ND, or DA series would be far too light for nailing decking I'd reckon, let alone not have the holding power & only being zinc plated rather than gal or stainless.

Not to be picky but ND's come in stainless too ...All be it at some pain to my pocket... Stick with stainless screws if your after quality and if you want effective but cheaper and are going into treated joists drill and hammer in 65mm Galv titadecks............. Leave the paslode coil guns to the lower end market where they belong and save yourself a call back..

yeah thanks, i had a look at bunnings on the weekend and the price of the 60mm stainless nails are not cheap at all. I think its back to the predrilling and nailing the deck off.

FWIW 6 years ago I nailed my first ever deck (which was at home) with a Paslode Fixing Gun. It was Kwila over F17 HWD joists. Not a board has come up but then again it is under some polycarb roofing.
In saying that I would never ever do it again. At the time I didn't know much (obviously) and was going on the advice from the Bunnings store. Just had the Allan Staines book in one hand and some piece of timber in the other.
For all my decks I use SS screws in different gauges for different applications. I saw a beautiful 8G screw with a 'star drive' made by Otter I think. That would look good on a 70 or 90mm deck. If the need arises I'll screw the boards down with those but at the moment all looks good. Even the Cabots Merbau $60 'oil' still looks good but once again.....under polycarb.

Poor option for decking i totally agree but great for handrail work as your ballesters wont fall off like everyone elses
