    Default Rug Doctor Carpet Cleaner

Bunnings have these on hire for $38 a day plus $12 for the detergant.
Has anyone used them, are they any good?
My bedroom carpet has some stains which are just dirt and sweat, I may be moving at the end of January at which time the carpets (this place only has carpet in the two bedrooms) will be pro cleaned as per the lease requirements.

However I have a general inspection in December, I don't want to spend $150 on carpet cleaning when I have to get it redone a month later, but they do need a clean.
I'm wondering if this Rug Doctor beast would do the trick - getting on my hands and knees with a damp cloth is not an option due to health issues.
    Cheers

They work. We're in a rental with cream carpet and just recently ran one o' them over it.

A couple of things I noticed that may help you....

They're not hard to use, but doing a whole house with 'em is quite the workout. Not as much as using an industrial cleaner, but enough to leave one feeling relieved when it's over.

On large rooms, work back 'n forth. Otherwise, if you work the carpet in only one direction it can stretch slightly while wet and form a 'ripple.' Normally this'll pull taut again when the carpet dries but not always. DAMHIKT.

Make sure it sucks all the water up! They don't really like the trim between carpeted and wooden flooring. Apart from spray splashing all over the wooden floor, (requiring extra mopping) they have a modicum of trouble sucking the water up from the last inch or two closest to the trim. Ours looked alright, apart from feeling damp, but as it dried it formed a stain. I'm hoping this will disappear the next time I clean in a few months.

Of course, this trim issue depends on just how big a 'step' is involved. Ours is fairly large.

Yes, I'll be renting one again. Being rural, relying on firewood and having cream carpets mean they need cleaning every few months. Some of my problems were probably because we waited for 18 months until the carpet really needed doing.

I suspect these machines work best with only light work, frequently. I've considered buying a small industrial machine instead, but the economics say no. Not unless I want to start a business on the side.
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.
