Problems with Sander Belts
I've hired a sander for the weekend, and the belts, two, have ripped off. The second one before I even touched the floor . Any ideas? Nick

Hi Nick. If you are talking about the sanding sheets for the drum sander shredding off, you probably need to tighten them on more. If you hit a nail when in contact with the floor, this can rip the sheets as well. All the best with it. I sanded a couple of rooms recently and the end result is worth all the stuffing around.

where the belt has been joined make sure it rotates in the designed way...another words, in the direction of the arrow, which most belts have stamped on the inside ....sometimes a weak belt will break very easily if rotated the wrong way, also check the running plate for scars ....this plate covers the surface area you are sanding .....and with rough use can wear pretty thin and sometimes jagged edges ...other than that its probably due to crapatia belts ...get a better brand ....

Thanks for that guys. Also the angle on the belts (parallelogram shape) doesn't quite match the angle of attachment , has anyone come across this before? I'm probably going to take the sander in 't shop in morning.
