    Default Solid Timber onto concrete

    Hi

I was told by supplier that a 5" solid new oak t&g board can go straight onto a recently poured (4 months ago) concrete ground floor

He said Soudal do a glue that goes between.

Would water from the concrete be an issue?

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks

Sika do one too. In tubs and sausages. 4 months should be long enough.

also bostic ultraset (think it has been renamed) is another cheaper but highly recommended one. they also have a moisture barrier sealer to apply first.

    G'day.
A new timber floor over a 4 month old slab?
    NO BLOODY WAY!!!

Allow roughly 1 month per 1" of slab thickness.
Consider surounding soil types that can cause retained moisture in the slab.

Use spreadable vapour barrier then sheet off with plastic sheet with taped joints. Bring sheet up the walls 50mm.
Then lay minimum 15mm ply fixed into the slab with plitz anchors.
Glue and nail in the normal manner.

I'm sure that the TRADA website in Pommy land would have relevant flooring info for installations for the UK region.

    Have a look.
    Hooroo.

Dear Micheal-just a note to say how good it is to hear from someone in Dub.
Any advice on dampness and flooring from this dry part of the world will need to be taken as from almost a different planet. What part of Dublin? I used life in Phibsborough and worked at St Pats in Drumcondra. In those days a pint was 20p in Dublin and 18p down the country.

    1" per month on a 100mm/4" slab = dry enough, doesn't it?
Old Codger lays alot of those floors on concrete, he should know.
