My thicknesser stopped, lost receipt
Hi there woodworkers,
My ryobi thicknesser won't start and I have lost my receipt (bunnings)
So I need to fix it.
Can anyone give me some clues on fixing it myself. It would sometimes start after many attempts and now it doesn't start at all. I did check the brushes, they have about 1 centimetre of carbon left.
This ryobi thicknesser is a replcement for one that threw bearings!
Any help appreciated
Cheers
Zanne

the switch is easy to replace, and only costs around 20 or 25 bucks. (turn it off first and unplug)
Usually just have to remove the two screws on the plate that mounts it make note of which wire plugs to what, and take it into either a ryobi repairer, or try Hare and Forbes (thats where we bought one for our Rexon).and they had one in stock. It is a good chance that this is the problem. You may not get one that is exactly the same.

My money is also on the switch. I have a Ryobi router (I know, it's a different beast) and it showed identical symptoms as your machine is doing. I pulled out the switch and blew it out with a compressor while gently tapping it and all has been good since.
The first step towards knowledge is to know that we are ignorant.
