Renovating a bathroom and reinstalled the toilet with no problems except.....

Can someone tell me the correct way to connect the 'service nut' on the inlet!

I'm using a new inlet valve (with plastic thread) and a new nylon service nut and nylon olive washer. The inlet pipe is chrome plated copper.

I've had to take the toilet in and out a couple of times, and I always have trouble getting the inlet service nut joint to seal properly. Often get a very slight leak. Right now its leaking slightly between the thread and nut.

Specifics..

1. Should you use thread tape?
2. Should it be finger tight (as in the instructions with the inlet valve) or spanner tight
3. should I use a new olive washer every time it is disconnected

etc etc

Normally I dont have problems with normal brass/copper compression joints but this nylon one always gives me grief!

Any tips would be much appreciated.

Steve
