Lights dim / flicker
I have a lamp powered from a power outlet (ie not the ceiling lighting circuits).
This seems to dim briefly when the blower for the ducted heating starts up. Also, it flickers when a load on a power outlet in the same room (the iron on a power outlet across the room is a good example) comes on.
The house has been renovated in the last 5 years and the wiring was replaced.
Any idea what could be causing this and what can be done? Is it possible for the ducted heating to start slowly or, install a power filter at the fuse board?
thanks
PS we also get some fluctuations on the supply to the house but I need to speak to Citipower about that!

Sounds like the house is starving for power.

It's just the voltage dropping a bit under load. If you want to stop it you would have to work out if is just that circut or if it the power in the whole house. If just that circut you could have another circut run to split the load a bit. If the whole house you would need heaver cable run to the house.
Unless it's very bad it's probibly not worth worrying about.
