Good Evening Folks,

Home Hardware and the BigB are both selling a certain little gizmo that would probably best be described as a "Timer Adaptor Light-Socket Fitting", that is made (well, imported...) by a company called "Mort Bay". The things sell for about $19.95. I'm sorry but I can't lay my hands on an image of one...

Anyhow, they are just a little white plastic fitting that terminates in a Bayonet (or Edison) "plug" at the top, and a Bayonet (or Edison) "socket" at the bottom, with a push-button and an LED in the middle. You plug them into your light fitting, and then plug a bulb into the bottom of them, and then select one of the three modes of operation with the button (and the LED apparently flashes to let you know what mode you're in).

Now I'm wondering - Does anyone already have one of them? And if so:

1) Do the things last? (I ask because I bought a few of those little white Ringgrip-brand Timer Light-Socket Adaptors a while back when the BigB was clearing them out cheap, and they've all just given up the ghost over time. The bulb heat must cook them...)

2) Will it run an Energy-Saver-type Fluoro? (the Ringgrips wouldn't...)

3) In "Timer" mode, does the thing come on at dusk (thanks to the in-built sensor), and then stay on for a certain pre-selected period of time? (or have I got that wrong, and it does something else?...)

Any other comments would be appreciated. I need several, and at $20 a pop, I don't want to end up with a bagful of Lemons...:-

Many Thanks,
Batpig.
