Hi guys.

I've planned as part of my kitchen renos to move the stove into the old chimney where the wood stove used to be. The original owners at some stage in the past removed the wood stove, framed & lined the opening, & put a gas stove & rangehood in.

My plan is to remove this lining panel & have the stove put in the chimney to free up some space in that corner of the kitchen. At the moment I have a Chef Duet which is gas stove top & grill (lpg) with electric oven. I've been fortunate to be given a side by side all LPG stove/oven which I will use. That will free up one power point. :)

Now, do I have to keep the rangehood by law? It's an 86 year old house. The chimney is concrete capped, & there would be room to put the rangehood in but I'd prefer to not have it if I can.

For the electrical question: The rangehood is hard wired, & if I don't keep it, would it be legal to use this circuit to run power to my garage, which is 8 metres from that side of the house.

I live in Central Victoria.

Thanks.
Andrew
