On the weekend I stayed at a friend's newly built place on the Mornington Peninsula. It has hydronic heating and also an elaborate matrix of water pipes, tanks, divertors and catchments. The plumbing looked great, like a peice of art. My question is, is there a standard set of coloured pipes that should be used for different applications (such as electrical wires in power network). I saw the stardard black Auspex pipe used for drinking water but then also saw purple and green. Is this for the hydronioc heating? What's the purple and what's the green? Also, does Auspex piping need a thermal sheild/sleeve over it for hot water? The hot water pipes in this place did. I thought that plastic alone was good enough.
