I live on a rural property and have a bore to feed the house for everyday water. the water has been tested and is potable but it does have a very slight tannin colour. Over the past 20 years, the tannin has built up in my house water pipes and is now starting to restrict the flow of water from my household Davey pressure pump. The build up is like a brown sludge. It is not calcium based. My question is: is there some way of cleaning the pipes? I am thinking there must be some liquid solution I can run through the pipes to clean them, but it must be safe enough to use through taps we drink from, after flushing. Chlorine does not seem to budge the sludge, so I am thinking of something acidic? Any ideas? Surley this must be a problem in other rural parts of Australia? thanks Spin.
