Vulcan Freeloader gas HWS restart
I have a newish (2 y.o.?) Vulcan Freeloader gas hot water system which has not been used for about 6 months as the house has been unoccupied.
Last night (by the light of a mobile phone screen) I attempted to get it started.
There's a full new gas cylinder, valve opened.
The tap on the gas line to the HWS was open.
The water tap to the HWS was open.
The igniter was giving spark.
I *think* I could hear gas when holding down the pilot light button.
But, no luck.
Anything else I should check or do?
Cheers,
Andrew

Keep trying, if it's been unused for a long time what you can hear hissing out of the pilot is most likely air and not gas. If you smell gas, stop and let it clear before trying again.

Another tip I learned with this instant heat gas HWS is to turn on a hot water tap in a sink nearby before you try to light it. (Gas in HWS, not the tap in the sink)
Sometimes the bloody thing is too smart for its own good & won't light even the pilot 'cos it doesn't see a demand.Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.
