    Default horse hair sisalation?

Many years ago when installing plaster board you would soak what i think was called sisalation (white hair like material) in plaster and put it on the board and over a rafter to help secure the plasterboard.
My question is was that called sisalation? was it horse hair? can it still be purchased?
    Thanks

I've always known the sheet as fibrous plaster. Probably dropped out of use in the 50's and I doubt that horse hair had been used for the job since the 1900's. The material to make these saddle supports was possibly something akin to plumbers hemp. Sisalation is an aluminium foil product used on roofs and wall frames.

Try looking for rovings, I think the modern stuff is fibreglass but is just the modern equivalent of the horse hair.

You may mean sisal, or hemp rope fibre, not sisalation

The term was called scrimming and was only used with the old fibrous plaster which is quite heavy compared to modern plasterboard

there is no call for it these days with modern adhesives
