Vinyl Wall Paper Glue Removal

Hi all,
We bought a transportable home, and as it had been closed up for a few years, in a hot area, the vinyl wall coverings started to peel in all corners,
of the paneling it is on, we found that using a steamer we can get the vinyl paper off,
But its the glue or adhesive that we are finding the worst to try to get rid off, the walls are timber panel just thin ply, and my hubby has sanded and sanded untill his arms drop off,
Is there a solution or an old wive's tale trick we can use to get rid of this glue,
We would like to remove the glue, sand the ply wood panels, and coat
with an estapol or clear varnish, we have several types of varnish on hand
to try,
But removing the glue is our main headache,
l have read about warm water and soap, Vinegar, has anyone got an idea?

Romana in sth west qld, not living near any hardware shops either, we can't slip down to the local mitre 10 as there is none, but we can ring and order.

Ordinary wallpaper glue usually comes off with warm water on a rag & rubbed

Though there was ply sheeting made with wallpaper already attached, this might use a different glue.

Try sugar soap, that should get rid of any wallpaper glue I have come across.

Failing that, Selleys wallpaper stripper will dissolve most wallpaper glues.

l am going armed with Sugar of Soap, White Vinegar,
& a heap of rags, will try things alternately,
l will have a go
& let you know.
couple days that is..it's hot out here.

Back home again, spent the last 3/4 days tackling the wall paper & glue,
l went with all the stuff l said l would plus,
a belt sander and a wild looking scraper with orange handle,
has an inverted end, cost a bundle, plus the spare blades are $16.00,
they are reversable.........
got them from Home Hardware. oh and 4 litres of turps,.
Tried a few different things,
l am sure the stuff on the walls is plastic, absolute nightmare
if we didn't have the heat gun,

Now to the Glue removal,

Painted the ply walls in small sections with turps, and scraped my
little heart out, mind you the scraper is only 1 1/2 wide,
then a going over with the belt sander,
the turps seemed to clog up the sanding belts a bit,
but we were determined to be rid of the stuff.
then medium force sanding with the 1/3 sander,
and the loung room is nearly ready to estapol.

l'm not sure if it is the best way to go, but that's how we
are doing it, just plod along on out days off.
