Thread: render blueboard

hi guys, my questionis? In order for me to render blue board, should i fibre grid the joins and patch them with acra patch or mac patch, then nail expanded metal on the blue board, spray the blue board with a mix of bond crete, riversand and cement let that set for a day. Then render the blue board as normal with sand, cement and renderers clay.Is this a good way of doing it or would the joins still crack?

There are many acrylic render products that would do the job alot easier. It can be done that way, but a quicker way would to find a polymer render to render the blueboard with. Its as simple as meshing the joints, filling the joints with filler and then two coats of polymer render.
We use to do the expanded metal way alot but is alot quicker and easier with polymer renders.

the joints would not be a big issue is putting exp metal over blueboard, if you want a job to last many many years then exp metal is the go,

i would fix metal on, overlap sheets by 100mm lets say, then I would simply splatter coat the render onto the metal, make mix, one lime, one cement and 3 washed sand, and use 4 water to 1 boncrete gauge water,

then do second coat a couple of days later with similar mix, just a touch weaker min 5-8mm thick, sponge and paint
