trim a bit off door jamb
Hi all,
I am re-tiling a shower recess and have hit a problem. To get some more room I want to lay the last vertical row of tiles over the edge of the door jamb and butt them to a vert. aluminium strip at the opening. Problem is that the door jamb is about 6mm proud of the fc wallboard so needs to be trimmed for the tiles to overlap. Any suggestions how I can neatly trim this much off the jamb, or other suggestions on finishing this tile edge.
Thanks

here's a pic of the jamb, I want to lap the tiles over the timber jamb with an aluminium strip to edge it, rather than nail on an architrave and tile up to it. The jamb timber will be behind the sliding screen door.

I think I'd be extending the jamb with a bit of matching thickness timber to leave it just a bit proud of the tiling and tile up to the jamb.

Use a combination square to mark a line on the face of the jamb which indictaes the face of the wall lining. Then run a circular saw along that line, either freehand or with a fence on it. You will have to plunge cut to start obviously and you should be careful of kickback. Then use a handsaw to finish it.
