    Default wet corner and rot

The wall between my bathroom and laundry has sheeting that can handle the moisture and right next to it paper covered plasterboard... The wet has got into the paper and rusted the metal plaster corner, swelled the plasterboard and cracked off some tiles. I've trimmed away the moist bits and cut off the metal above the top of the rust... exposed the underlying pine timber frame and now have to put it all back together again...

The pine seems ok and with a few dry days I reckon it'll be dried properly. Any suggestions for preparation products I should use or how to reinstate the wall so I can replace the tile would be hugely appreciated.

I'm sure these photos will tell you more...

hello triangle. Where is the water coming from ?- splashed from the outside or a leak from within the wall. If it's seepage from a leak in a shower or plumbing, then although the wall sheeting might look like it can handle it, your timber inside is probably rotting away and/or being eaten by termites if they have a way to it.
If you've solved the moisture problem, then I would just prise away the architrave carefully at the bottom of the door (you may have to cut it with a handsaw if its been captured by the tiles) and cut that plaster out to make a neat simple rectangular section to patch. get a piece of gyprock to fit the hole and a short length of external plaster angle, nail the patch and angle in and plaster it with joint compound. Once it's dried and sanded, tap the architrave back into place.

    Cheers
    Michael
