Greg, sorry you can't make it. Another time maybe.

Jeff. I can do your legs on Monday after the w/e if you want to and you can take them home with you.

    Thanks .

I can't stay for Monday, so we'll have to ship the legs up to me at Kiewa. Whatever pattern you decide on will be perfect bo doubt.

But I was hoping the crew could admire you turning that beast called KD redgum, maybe even one leg only. Real turning, for furniture, unlike the redgum platters I've been doing. Nothing better than seeing a master at work.

See what the guys reckon at the turn-on. Maybe a crowd will have you nervously poking the skew at the piece and getting the occasional catch. I know I did when I had you looking over my shoulder!

Thanks for the offer Ern, not sure at this stage. I'm looking into getting one of those Wicked Vans again, worked a treat last time in Melb and Perth - I'll let you know.

still finalising plans, but with an early start Sat, can I come Friday night to camp O/N?

Can't bring those donuts this time, wrong direction, but I'll see what the local bakery has as alternatives. I'll also bring some thing to throw on the BBQ for lunch/dinner etc.

    Cheers
    Neil

More than welcome Neil. Ern, if you are at a loose end and have a sleeping bag you are more than welcome to stay as well.

If anyone coming to the turn-on has a moisture meter, can you please bring it along? I've some some not-long seasoned redgum that I need to read for moisture before I turn it.

    thanks Jeff

Great! I also have some red gum which I though had been down for a while but the platter I turned out of it has moved more than i expected.

I scored some fruit wood today (rescued from a firewood pile), two different types, one is very dry and it has a few split however its a good size at 700 x 250 mm, plus a few smaller pieces. The other piece of fruit wood is much greener but has not splits so I expect to gain some decent sizes from it. It is lovely wood, tight and hard and very consistent in structure, I think it would be lovely to turn. I hope to bring some with me to the turn fest.

I will bring some Cooktown Ironwood with me and I have two she oak bowl blanks from resser. Here is hoping to get in some practice and to gain some handy tips from the masters.

The reason I asked about turning copies of spindles is more about making tools handles in the same shape and form, repeatedly.
