The amazing bowls of John Beaver
Morning friends, chilly hey!
Today I found a really amazing set of bowls that are a "waveform" design. Elegantly executed and beautifully finished. Hoping you might get a moment to enjoy them as I have:

Club Demo
John Beaver is scheduled to do a demo at our club (Carolina Mountain Woodturners) this Saturday. Maybe he will share his technique. We have a club member that does something similar. It involves a router on a cam-driven base.

John gave a demo at the AAW Symposium in Phoenix June 2014. He uses a bandsaw to cut a curve through the entire bowl, pivoting more or less about a diameter of the bowl near the bottom. Then cuts another about the same; sometimes again at a slightly larger radius (of the cut). Swaps parts around to make one or two bowls with waves. There are several variations, some with a band proud or shy of the surface. Or many bands.
I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Take some pictures.
Cheers,
