Have a good time Ern, but before you go you may want to read this report on the (closed) Bridsville Track

    Thanks Fred.

B/ville Tk is now open. There are various state road condition report websites, and it's a tangle up at the state borders. SA does it well, NSW OK and Qld, for reliable info on local roads you have to find the local shire and then its website and hope they post info or reply to emails. Amazingly re the latter, I got an immediate reply to a query on Sat about Birdsville (take a bow Diamantina Shire!).

We'll get to Tibooburra in NSW later in the week and check the updates before making a decision.

Meantime, anyone turned any Waddi? Sounds wickedly dense. (Maybe I should take camo gear and a bowsaw).
    Cheers, Ern

Horrible to work - hard, brittle and splintery - but beautiful colour. Best way to get it is take some railway line with you - the cockies will let you replace posts and rails in the yards and keep the Waddi they were made from. Apart from that every twig is under surveillance!!!

    LOL.

Thanks for the expert advice TTIT.

Guess we could start from the south end of the Birdsville track and take up some redgum sleepers from the old Ghan line. Squillions lying around.

Meantime, to get back on-topic, kind of, thanks to GJ for donating an old gas bottle that I've hacked as a brazier. More on that here
    Cheers, Ern

I'm off outback and if the 'desert' dries out enough hope to see the 1000 year old Waddi trees near Birdsville. Will carry a chainsaw but suspect they might be protected.
Just wondering if you have any room for bringing back some old bones?

Just a short note to let people know that start time will be around 8:30 - 9:00 in the morning.
If there are any more people interested in coming along just mention it here, or send me a PM.
Does anyone need the address or directions?

Thanks Rod. Sounds like a rewarding 'b*tch'.

At the moment the challenge will be just to get to Birdsville, given the rains.

Sorry about the thread hijack GJ.

Might work better than the salad I bought once. I'd better make another Chocy Ripple cake I guess.
