To put things into perspective, that mirror is 148mm x 148mm square.

It is a box that comes apart and is very well done, inside and outside.

You can still see the exhibition, it ends tomorrow.

    50 metres from Moorabbin station.

    Mick.

The white things underneath some items are only for identification purposes to ensure bits don't go missing.

This is German Ring Turning, which was demonstrated at the exhibition today.

This is an entrant, not part of the demonstration; very interesting.

I managed to get this quick look inside the box, unfortunately my hand shaking and the hand shaking of the steward holding the box contributed to an unsharp picture; but you'll get the drift of the quality of the inside just the same.

I also liked this one; as did someone who bought it going on the red sticker.

Here are a few pics I took of bowl and platters that appealed to me. Caught up with some old friends and forum members as well. Even bought 2 items so 2 red stickers were mine. Had a great day on Fri and Sunday but did not attend the presentations. An excellent exhibition of wood crafts and art.

I was quite impressed with how elegant the displays were this year, compared to the last time I visited around... oh... a decade ago.

Kudos to the organisers, I know how shoe-string their budget is.

I was a tad surprised to see commercial stalls there, but in hindsight it's ridiculous to not have them. A bit of commercial support (and revenue) is all to the good for future shows.

There were some rather impressive pieces entered this year, although it seemed to me that for many of the pieces most of the effort went into applying fancy finishes or ornate carving on simply turned forms. Don't get me wrong; these pieces were, in general, eminently saleable. But this is a Wood-turning Exhibition, not an art display.

Mind you, some of the pieces were turned so exquisitely that the highest praise I can find is "Wow. Just wow." I reckon that with another 8 or 9 decades of practice under my belt I could take 'em on and win.
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.
