Thread: Ballarat BBQ & Turn on

I had a great day at Ballarat (there's the double letters for you David)watching everyone except David take the Stubby through it's paces. This mans generosity knows no bounds . The only down side of owning a NEW Stubby is that I've heard they cause cancer, so I'm offering to look after it for the first 12 months .
Happy birthday mate you deserve that Stubby. To grow old is inevitable.... To grow up is optional
Confidence, the feeling you have before you fully understand the situation.
What could possibly go wrong.

Thanks Vern (mate) and the other infidels for your comments - i had a good day, no make that a great day with nice people (although they are from the less classy side of wood turners, sometimes it is nice to see how the other few live.)
These BBQ's are great and it is really good to see new attendees and the reward for running one is watching them learn points that may help them enjoy their hobby more. Not saying that we dont all learn but knowing that you just committed a newby to a life of buying tools and the wood addiction is something special.
Cheers
PS did i tell you i got a STUBBY, here's a pic in case you missed itregards

2x congrats David on the Stubby and on your birthday. Onya for shouting yourself such a long awaited pressie.
I see the Stubby has a speed chart on it now. Rob C must be getting soft ;-}
Here's the url for the Stubby group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/stubbygroup/
It's a fairly low traffic US-dominated group. The two Bills on it make bits and pieces for the Stubby and if you have a tech query the group is quicker than leaving messages with Omega.
Looking forward to seeing what you spin on the Beast.
Sorry I missed the day. I'd left an SMS on GJs phone but I think he was carrying a different one.Cheers, Ern

Stubby - what stubby.
The only stubbies were the two big toes of "Skew"
as he wandered around David's workshop barefooted.
Of all the places in Victoria to walk around barefooted
Ballarat would be the last. It can get mighty cold there
but somehow David looked to the gods and ordered
a beautiful sunny day.

Hope all who came to this event are well and healthy.
I woke up this morning with a good dose of the headcold. Feel like sh&^ and slept not much better. My daughters have had it for a couple of days so i guess it was just a matter of time.
Good health all and cheersregards

David you probably have a form of swine flu.
It a nasty strain called Stubby flu.
The only known cure is to immediately remove the offending cause from your shed and replace it with a soothing blue machine.
There will be no shortage of offers to remove the offending machine.
Forum members are well known for helping other members in times of illness and serious need.
Jim Carroll would be delighted to supply you with a nice shiney Vicmarc.
By now you should be able to see the error of your ways.
You should have brought a bloody Vicmarc.
I'm now going to go and hide under the bench for a few days and avoid the incoming flack.
All in jest
TimSome days I turns thisaway, somedays I turns thataway and other days I don't give a stuff so I don't turn at all.

Heheh.
Nah, real Stubby owners trail their thumb on the blank's flying points. Count them for 60 seconds and divide by four.Cheers, Ern
