Black palm bowl.
Some time back, about 20 odd years I was given the root ball of a black palm. Yesterday I tripped over it and in retribution I put it in the lathe to get even. The centre of the piece was fairly soft but the bottom section was fairly solid. The outside turned ok, quite hard and very splintery and hard on the tools. The inside was a pita.

I've only turned a couple of pens from Black palm and I know turning something like you have
would be a real challenge.

Jim very nice bowl, love the inside & rim. I don't feel so bad now - none of my timber has been sitting around for 20 years.
