blanks
Folks.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to get some bowl blanks etc close to
Adelaide.
I had made pens mainly and have never required big blanks so am lost as to where in Adelaide to look.
Thanks.

You can try George from Mt Compass, not on this forum any longer, but he has a heap of Olive and other interesting timbers (see https://www.woodworkforums.com/showth...ighlight=olive). He is also on Ebay (see http://stores.ebay.com.au/Georges-bits-of-timber) so send him a message and he can tell you want he has and cut anything to size for you.

There are some great salvage yards in Adelaide...
Try Stepney Salvage or some other place like that (they are probably one of the more expensive)
Old house beams and building beams can be cut up into good seasoned blanks and a fraction of the price of domeone sporting 'bowl blanks'

I do not not think Stepney's would have anything Rural salvage and de Young's have some very old beams etc mainly Oregon, suprisingly your local would yard can be a good source, if you have healthy wallet Otto's or Macwood,s will have reay cut blanks

Unfortunately not too close to you but it may be worth checking out: http://satreesalvage.com.au/supply.html
I haven't been able to make the trip down yet to check out what they stock so if you do please report back.
