I am working on a little questionaire that will give the info that they asked for. If you want to remain anon that will be fine just fill out the bit you want to. (actually that great man is helping me again, but we dont want hm to gat a swelled head from the pat on the back)
As for next year lets wait till before christmas.
Some probs with this one i see were
- around the holiday period was probably not the time to start it
- The time was too long caused by me going to Qland for all of Feb
- April having too many events to have the judging and BBQ
- the bloody fires took the focus off this funbdraiser. - maybe they have them in june next year instead of around christmas
Others probably can think of plenty of others as well.
Cheersregards

Hi thanks for your donation to the charity - could you please fill in the red bits below to give the purchaser a little knowledge of the person who made the bowl they purchase. If you dont want to give some of the information thats fine. - filled one out at the bottom for you to see what i am after.
Cystic Fibrosis are going to auction the items at their Dinner Dance in June.
Groggy has photos here - # post 33 to refresh your memory
Thankyou.

Can someone tell me what they write on the bottom of the bowls with and also what is the best way to afix the infomation to the bowl so they dont get mixed up - ie stickytape or post it note or label or ???

Didn't think to add my website to the info I sent you David - could you tack it on for me please (www.ttit.id.au).
I use a fine tipped felt pen to put my initials on the bottom but no more than that. I find the only people interested in the wood type are other woodies who aren't going to buy it anyway and adding the date only makes the potential buyer aware of how long other potential buyers have passed it by

...agree with TT on signing, but do put the type of wood, never put the date.
Cheers,
Ed

I put the Wood , Year , and my name ,
With NZ natives I always put the true Maori name , not the common one , or the Latin classification.
NZ Kauri

Folks like a bit of info about the things they get .

When I first started, I put my name and an ID no. on each piece, which I'd record in a ledger along with time, species, finish types, any problems, etc.
Being inherently lazy, the paperwork fell by the wayside fairly quickly. Much to my regret as there've been times when I've been asked "oh, that goblet you made me? What wood is it? Could you make me another to match?"
And, of course, I've no idea what the timber/finish is most of the time and have to wing it...

Thank you to all the donors for filling in the information form so quickly - They are all in tonight.
I wont thank/reply to each one individually as the 3 minute thingy on posting pm's gets a bit hard to take when you get to 14.
TTIT i can add your website for you. and will check all the others to see if they have one.
I will make a database and then print up a little card to go with each bowl. (Mail merge style)
Thanks again
As for a list of my own completed items i knew before i started that i wouldnt keep it up so didnt start.
Cheersregards

Nope - am also a victim!
So far I have managed to keep fairly good records.
I just keep a chart on the workshop wall to record finished items as they come off the lathe.
I don't date my bowls either, but adopted a method used by someone on another forum.
After my initials and the wood species I number the item as follows:
The number would start with the year, then the month and finally the bowl number finished for that month.
Eg. 952 would be 2009, May and the 2nd bowl I have completed in the month.
953 would be 2009, May and the 3rd bowl I have completed so far....etc etc.
Works for me (and others) so I thought I might share the idea.
At least it keeps some sort of record.Cheers,
Andy
