Jeff, I've done 36 types now and some with additional variations, I only have 14 more to go before I have done them all in the book. They do seem to take less time as I go along.

I did a count today and the total number of boxes since I started this learning journey is 55 boxes.

    Peter,

I have Phillip Island coming up and will get you some drawings on a Ken Wraight tutorial box. Send me your email and I'll send you some pics and dimensions on a 2mm thick box with a finial. Rest assured, it might test you. It did me. An interesting jam chuck.

Default Bit of a delay in turning boxes.

As my prostate cancer, after a couple of years being undetectable, has been growing (and rather aggressively) over the last year I'm again on the testosterone depressing treatment.

Unfortunately the tests needed and the treatment has knocked me about a bit, where I did not feel comfortable turning a lot, but I'm back again making a few boxes.

Also on the days in between when I felt great I turned a few vases as a club challenge and some deep hollowings as they did not require too much concentration.

But now the treatment has settled down again I'm back making boxes.

    Default Box 37 - Inset-lid box.

The main difference in this box is the way the lid is fitted being an inset lid. The lid is blue gum as a contrast to the base being claret ash. The claret ash was still green, having been recently felled, and as such I allowed an overlarge opening for the lid and made the box a bit chunky to allow for the drying.

The contrasting timber for the lid adds a different look but upon reflection I personally feel the same timber would look better.

The finish is to a thin coat of CA glue, followed with EEE and then Glow. Pictures shows the top/front, side, insides and the bottom views, each with a 50 cent piece for size indication.

Default Box 38 & 39 Double decker & Four stack box.

The book shows first a double decker box and next a four stack box.

The double decker is included in the book as it is included in a video that Chris has made but in the four stack box he made an improvement that make it easier to turn them. As that technique can be used to make any number of stackable boxes I only made the double decker but with the improved method.

Timber is free wood of the unkown variety found on a nature strip. Turned well and finished easily.

The finish is to a thin coat of CA glue, followed with EEE and then Glow. Pictures shows the top/front, side, insides and the bottom views, each with a 50 cent piece for size indication.
