Been in the workshop today and done a few things just to help keep my hand in after doing the 2 natural edge items I posted not long ago.

First on I believe is cherry which I have coloured the outside Royal Blue The grain is still visible through the stain.

Wow you have been busy. Particularly like the Chestnut, love the colour and warmth of that wood and the cherry/blue is outstanding, well done

You sure have a wide range of talents Derek,
The bowls are beautiful but I think I like the third one with all the figure most, top job.

Wow!! All nice, I especially like the spalted and the flared one.

What do you use to get the gloss on the first one?
So much timber, so little time.

The first one was stained with royal blue spirit stain after shaping the outside and before turning the rim and inside. The whole thing was given coat of sander sealer and then finished with melamine lacquer both sealer and lacquer where fine sanded between coats and one dry I used T-Cut for cars on it which brought up the glossy look. You could use burnishing cream which does the same thing.
