Isn't that just the Easy-Rougher with a round cutting tip??? Can't see a 'silky smooth' finish coming from one of them in a hurry

Well if you review the prices, you might think again. All the parts are available here in Oz for far less than 140odd USD. Thats over $175 AUD plus postage and handling.....do the math
As to owning one, have all the bits on hand but have yet to get around to put them all together, no shed, kinda slows the process down and the enthusiasm wanes a bit to.Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working. — Pablo Picasso

Vermec have a round tip TCT version for hollowing.
There are 2 different sizes, 8mm & 10mm.
They also have a bigger round shear scraper made of HSS.
See here. http://vermec.tripod.com/PDFs/multipurposechiselset.pdfCliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

Cliff, I knew you would have something to say given your history..... I reckon with PPH etc you would be lucky to get away with 200 smackeroos per each. A bit rich for this little black duck.Last edited by hughie; 21st July 2009 at 10:57 AM. Reason: woeful composition, spelling, grama etc

$93.50 will get you the 14mm shaft (200mm long) with 10m TCT cutter.
Spare cutters are $25.Cliff.

I think Hughies original point was that with those prices in the US, they were doing very well. Close as I can figure it anyway

Hi guys, not much happening on this front huh?
My solution to "rounding the square" has been to buy a green wheel and rounding one corner of the 17mm square cutter. I would not mind finding a source for the 10mm round cutter, though. Leuco does not have them and buying them retail at $25 a pop seems a bit rich, considering that the square ones cost 1/3 that in boxes of 10.
Hughie, you said you have "all the bits". Would you mind disclosing your source?

yep they are doing well, he is now marketing it through retail outlets. But they are really expensive and too expensive for what your getting IMHO, locally sourced would half if not more the price.
The concept is so simple most turners could make their own once the cutter is obtained. It does not have to be stainless thats only part of the sales set up.
There seems to be a perception around that stainless is better or best, and so attracts a premium. Stainless under certain conditions is better, but most conditions no. Turning is not necessarily a yes condition.
As to bits, well have some cutters from Cliff and the rest is just sq steel that can be bought at any steel store.Extra cutters , now that you have a green wheel. Have a chat to your local machine shop, preferably a CNC one,. They will have old cutters to burn and usually free, resharpen and a way you go.Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working. — Pablo Picasso
