Cairns
I'll be up in cairns shortly for a short stay with the family
Are there any purveyors of QLD fine timber (blanks) in the area I should visit?
PS anything I can bring from down here that anybody wants? (be reasonable given the finite weight restrictions imposed by the cheap airlines)

G'day.
Details, details, details..... how long are you staying, where are you going etc?
I used to live in Cairns & now live in the hills behind Cairns.
These blokes are worth a look....

There are a few places selling slabs of timber, the closest to go for a look-see would be on the highway just north of the Airport near the servo just before you cross the Barron River.
If you get up onto the tablelands, have a look at the Tolga Woodworks.
(Look, I said, look. )
There are a few saw mills around still operating & several small millers.
There are a couple of members on here who are millers with stuff to sell.
They are based not far from me on the southern end of the tablelands.
Look up Mapleman & Log Dog.
Most of us who live up here know somebody who knows somebody who knows somebody who keeps an eye out.Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

Jim & Cliff
Am back had a good time except the youngest got crook which slowed us down a bit!
Checked out most of the things Cliff suggested. Will probably be back in a year or so - we all liked the area and Trinity Beach was superb.
I'll try and catch up next time.
Cliff
You gave me a bum steer. Wren Timbers are no longer in Aumuller St
didn't have time to track them down if they exist anymore
oh well
cheers
Nick

Sheyet! Sorry about that, they aren't either, they moved & they didn't update their web site... I just ripped that address off the net.
They are now at the corner of Hassel & Palmer streets in Portsmith.
It is almost exactly right behind the old place in the next street.
I rang them & told them & they said to apologise, they just hadn't got around to fixing that yet.Cliff.

bugger
and I didn't have their phone number handy as I would have rang them!
The people next door to their old place didn't know where they had gone
PS Tell them they owe me a blank of something really expensive (but must be a local timber)!

Hill dweller
I'm willing to bet you'd live in the hills no matter where they were Mr. Rogers.
