Default Ceiling lamp for my own study room

Since my youngest daughter left the house in 2008 is this room promoted to my own study room, with a poor cheap metal ceiling lamp, this thing disturbed my good humor, so time for something else.
Buying a new ceiling lamp, why should I, making your own ceiling lamp is much funnier.
    First a design, than working.
All the parts are made out of oak, except the birch lamp shades, nicely warped into a more or less oval shape, even the rim runs not straight.
Here the design, and the outcome.

Ray, the wall thickness: 2 mm.
Not really translucent, turned the lampshades like turning a bowl, had no other option.
    Thanks, Ad

Those are lovely. Did you paint the inside of the shades with aluminum or white paint?
So much timber, so little time.

Thanks Paul, I had for a moment the thought to paint the inside of the shade with aluminium paint as I did that before with an other small reading wall lamp, but untill now it stays by that thought.
