    Default chuck insert?

Any advice on availability of inserts for an old-ish chuck, labelled as a 'kp96-00'1422075406183-2078044298.jpg

The question is a bit vague

I am assuming you are after an insert to suit the chuck you have to fit the lathe you have not indicated its thread size.

What is the thread in the back of the chuck.

What is the lathe you have and what is the spindle thread.

From the picture on the front of the manual it sure looks like a vicmarc.

I need to source an insert to use it on a 30x3.5 lathe. Unsure of thread size required for insert to fit the chuck- manual silent...and I wish it was a vicmarc, alas, no.

My suspicion is that it is a budget chuck from hare and Forbes from 2006....I got it with a mc900 when bought 2nd hand to start learning....I was hoping to source an insert to allow me to use it on my new cougar, the idea being to keep my Cole jaws on it...

Some of these chucks came with a dedicated thread to suit the lathe they came with.

You need to measure the thread in the back of the chuck and also check if it has an insert in the back.

If it has an insert remove this and measure the thread.

If it is a dedicated thread then sell of and purchase a Vicmarc chuck
