Claret ash bowl
Hi guys , had to get a claret ash tree removed from the front of my house awhile ago, so naturally I kept some of the larger logs , this bowl is from the tree , claret ash looks a bit boring so I thought I would add some colouring and a gold leaf natural edge ......
Any comments and advice always welcomeCheers smiife

Thats given a rather plane piece of wood quite a lift. Its turned out quite nicely.
I have an ash? bowl similar to yours that has been drying for while now and am going to try charring it. Should be an interesting little project. You can't use up creativity. The more you use, the more you have. ~Oscar Wilde

Looks good .
I got some claret ash a few year ago and am sorry now that I didn't get more .Although it is pretty plane ,it is easy to turn and is good for trying out various embelishing techniques as you have done .
Well done
Ted

I like that shape Smiife, nice and simple. Cleaning up the "wings" is always a problem.

smiffe, nicely done old boy, always wondered though, how do you stop the bark coming off or did you stabilise first? the last piece i cut from a tree peeled off as it dried.
