OK then. It looks like the theme for the day will be decorating platters, plates, bowls but possibly (probably) other things will be covered as well. Sharpening and techniques generally crop up.
As there seems to be a lot of different things to try we will kick off at 9.00AM Saturday morning and go until whenever people get sick of it.
If there is any interest for Sunday we will do that too bearing in mind that we have to get Cliff away during the day.
The Presidential suite and the Executive suite are occupied for the weekend but if you have an air bed or whatever we can find somewhere for you to rest your weary bones.
Bring your lunch (BBQ will be going), tools, a good sense of humour, chair, wood and anything you think might be of interest to others. There will be 7 lathes set up so we don't need any others.
I have had a few PM's asking if it is open to anyone. Yes it is provided you are a Forum member or lurker.
The address is 2 Bayview Road Tooradin. SE corner. Enter off the service road.
Don't forget your sense of humour.

I have been scanning lots of stuff & making an electronic copy of it.
I was going to suggest that I might be able to e-mail it to interested parties but... it is already 21Mb & I am only half way through.
I'll make some CDs that I can post after Easter if anybody is interested, let me know.Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

Another thing I'd like to try is where you push little dimples into the sirface then sand down to that and wet the pieces so the wood expandes out again.

Slightly off topic, but I picked up a set of three whetstones an Bunnies yesterday $29.98. On first look they don't seem too bad for the price, thinks that they should last the average turner/hobbyist about 3 years. I'll leave them with so that anyone interest can have a play with them on the weekend.
Yellow - Coarse
Red - Fine
Green - Extra Fine
I've asked the rep if he can find out the actual micron rating (for those interested).

Saw something similar at Supercheap, based on the quality of Supercheap files I didn't even look at the price.

The Whetstones.
Hi to all,
I have a similar set, much cheaper, & could be Cheaper.
They are Attached to a Triangular Wooden Brick? & sit in a "V" piece, as one is always on top.
Seems to work OK. Bought it at the W w W Show, Melb. 2010, about $18 if memories serve me.
If I can find them, I will bring them. I've got a feeling, that I lent them out to The Lad.
Really looking forward to Sat. & or Sun. as well?Regards,
issatree.

If anyone is interested in making screw on custom wood faceplates/jigs etc, I will bring along my Beall spindle tap (1-1/4 x 8, suit Nova Teknatool lathes). You'll need to hollow out/drill to approx 28mm diameter. Don't forget the CA glue to harden up the threads.

I've made a couple of those using taps I borrowed from Powderpost.
I have 3 for my big Vicmarc & 3 for my little Jet.Cliff.
