    Default Coral bowl/platter

I had this item turned and sitting on my desk as a blank canvas for some time. Firstly I had planned to do some pyrographed imaging. I had actually started and then realised that it just was not working, sanded it off and the it sat waiting for further inspiration. That inspiration came from memories from diving on the Great Barrier Reef during my time in Cairns many years ago and in particular the creations of WA artist Neil Turner and Kiwi Gordon Pembridge.
Out came a 6B graphite pencil, sketched a design, then my Dremel and a few selected burs and got to work.
This is the end result from my memory of "layered" coral.
Timber is Brazilian Cedar. Approximately 200mm x 170x 40mm high.

    C&C welcome

Yep, nice indeed. One day, I might try it. Thanks for posting it. How long did it take to do the feet?. That's a good feature for this piece.... Jerry (in Tucson)

Thanks Jerry, I don't time any aspects of my woodcraft but I have been doing "feet" for quite a while now and on a small bowl like this I would estimate about a half an hour from start to finish.
    Cheers Kerry
