Couple of bowls
I decide to have a bit of a change from model making and make a couple of bowls with some carving on them. The first pic is similar to bowl I saw in a UK magazine some time ago. The one in the mag was made from sycamore mine is made from julutong. It is eight inch dia and two inch deep.
The second is made from an hardwood offcut with random groves around the rim then burnt darker on the outside and inside of the rim less in the middle of the rim. On the first bowl I painted the rim and the underneath with three coats of black acrylic.
Both were finished with several coats of Carbothane Clear spray on polly.
Cheers Elderly

Nice work - especially on the Jelutong piece - that stuff would need a treatment like that to give it some interest

I'm loving both of these.
The geometric precision of the first one against the randomness of the second compliment each other.
Is teh finish on the dark one just paint or anything more exotic please?Dragonfly
