A couple of recent turnings
Evening all... here's a couple of recent turnings I played around with. Both were just to kill some time and see if I could. There's a little bit of spalting in the birch bowl and the sides are nearly () uniformly 2mm thick. There's a band near the base which is thinner because it received a little more sanding than the rest to remove some tear out
Not sure what the definition of the other is. I'm calling it a lidded box until advised otherwise. It's from a piece of Oak which I saved from the tree cutters onboard HMAS HARMAN a while ago. The finial and base are both ebonised using the vinegar & steel wool method. I would have liked them to be blacker but happy with it for a first try. The finial and base are finished with WOP, rest are Kunos Oil.
Happy to recieve all comments of constructive nature. I'm here to learn
