Here is a bowl that i made from a peice of wood Carl gave me when i was in Queensland this year. It was an offcut from a log we slabbed - very hard and just a red dust was all the saw produced.
I made this bowl for the Charity comp (not an entry, just a donation) and when the judges saw it they called it a lump of wood.
My daughter was upset because she said she thought it looked lovely. (she told me later that one man was not very nice but she thought the others were lovely)
SO your opinion and comments are welcome - Thats why it's in this section.

after a rework - thinned down, gave the edge a curve down and squre edge instead of a flat rounded edge, sanded to 600 then EEE and Glow.

Yeah, looks good David.
Better form; useful shadow line where the rim joins the body.
A 'half-saturn' finish ;-}Cheers, Ern

The big question now is are you happy with the bowl, did the critisism make you look at it in a different way .
Everyone always gets some form of critique and this is where you look at the form and decide , no I like it as it is or yes there is room for improvement.
You have to challange your abilities and also get the best out of the peice, dont be afraid to take that extra cut.
As all have indicated the judge was right and the second part does look betterJim Carroll

I had an experimental 'seethru' last year
spent a lot of time on it then ... bugger
got disgusted and threw it in the bin
then thought others might have liked to see the idea and maybe offered fixups or laughed
too late now though
But I have another in glue up mode - I'm a sucker to try it again This time I'll post the end resultregards
