Difference from #1 MT & #2MT
G'day,
One of them is bigger than the other, but how can FIL tell the difference from the two sizes when he only has one of them in his hand?
I need my FIL to send down to me some centres and chucks from my lathe in country NSW so that I can use a lathe that someone has very graciously loaned to me.
Owing to the age and use that the centres and chucks have had, I don't know if there'll be any visible markings to tell if they are 1 MT or 2 MT. I also have no idea what size MT that my lathe takes. Loaned lathe is a 2MT.
Thanks in advance for your help.

What type of lathe is it? That will usually tell you what type of taper it is. I would bet #2 as nearly everything is #2 these days.

G'day Cameron,
That, I have no idea. It's an old fully cast iron lathe made in Perth which has been in family for the last 20 years. Don't know if that helps to narrow it down or not.

G'day RDM,
Thanks for that link.
I've been looking at Google links for something like that and you beat me.
