Default Display case for Cricket Bat.

This is a job I took on for the boss at work. It's a display case for a cricket bat signed by the 1999 touring Paskistan Cricket team and the ACB Chairman's team who participated at the 1999 WA Lilac Hill cricket match.

The base pieces and cap are made of recycled Jarrah (one of my numerous skip dives) and the transparent tube is acrylic (quite exxy but I didn't pay for it).

The tube has a bayonet cut into the end and fit and into Jarrah base and end cap which rotate on a lazy susan bearing.

The bat rests on a disc of Cape Lilac taken from a street tree that fell down a couple of houses away from my place.

Here's the design of the cross section of the base.

Here's a view from the back.

top work Bob, love what you've done with the base.

Nice IMO, displaying it like that is so much better than hanging it in a frame on a wall

Thanks Guys. The cricket bat belongs to the boss's brother who was storing it in a pillowslip in a wardrobe. The boss thought a case would make a good present for him for a major upcoming birthday.

It was the first time I used Site sponsors Ultrashine and Shellawax and must say I am quite pleased with the results.

The hardest thing was getting everything square and concentric. You can imagine cutting a 130 mm diameter tube dead square was not that easy and then something that tall only needs to be a teeny bit out and it would then wobble as it turned.

As others have said... great execution... love the lazy susan idea underneath.
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.
