drying green wood
I have just cut down a largish hakia tree and sliced some 3 to 4 inch blanks off the trunk for later turning when dry. What is the wax coating recipe, or is it just melted wax painted all over the piece or part of? How long will it take to dry with a wax coating? Or is there a better method?
Over to you experts!!!!!

Do a search on this forum and Google "Drying Green Wood".
Also: boiling roughed bowls, soaking roughed bowls in dish washing liquid, turning green wood.
In the mountains of North Carolina, USA it takes about one year per inch of wood to air dry.So much timber, so little time.

Good score. Hakea can have some lovely grain.
Try turning a bowl green too. Either left thick to dry for returning or turned to completion (but this should be done in one session).Cheers, Ern
