    Default Ellipse

    ELLIPSE

This is a piece that did not get very much recognition. Made from 4 turnings cut apart into 6 pieces and reattached. The carved grape vine portion is Mahogany, the main body the vase, base and ring are Teak. The piece finished size is 10" x 10". The coloring was done with a combination of wood dye and Deco Art Metallics Acrylic paint, then the spray finish is lacquer. The vase body on this piece can be moved and so can the grape vine shell.

It is an interesting piece. I prefer the pieces to not align thus different from every angle.

I should also mention that I don’t have an artistic mind. Some people have commented that I have a weird mindset.

    Spilnzer,

That looks fantastic, love the way you combined different turnings.
    Too make one piece.

    Cheers Matt.

I like it, the grapevine shell really sets that piece off.

The one photo without the grapevine looks unbalanced to me; the ring looks wrong on the vase and the vase looks wrong on that stand But the grapevine ties it all neatly together somehow.
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

Well sometime pieces slip through the cracks, dunno why. But I think its a great composition well put together. Perhaps not my cup of tee, but doesnt stop me admiring it, well done sir.

Stunning, I've done a few of the discs as flower holders or just ornaments but nothing nearly as grand as that
