EVS units
Hi all!,
I have finally gotten sick of changing belts and I am considering buying an electronic speed unit for my lathe. I currently have a VL 200 SM and while i would like to upgrade to vicmarc's variable speed I believe that there are cheaper alternatives on the market. So, to those of you who know more about this than me (which isn't hard), I would like to ask a couple of questions.
1. To evs units require a 3 phase motor?
2. Has anyone had any experience with TECO motors and units?
I am also uncertain of how many HP I should be looking into would one hp be enough or should I opt for a two?
I hope you can help with me query.
Thanks
From
BJ

BJ, yes you will need a 3 phase motor, about 21/2 HP will do. I converted my old Shellharbour lathe to the Vicmarc EVS, I used a Teco motor, no problems, I have since upgraded to a VL300 using the Vicmarc motor. I don't know your location but I still have the 3 Phase motor, if you are interested Email me
Cheers
