feedback on the Record CL3 36x30
My workshop is looking at purchasing a second hand Record CL3 36x30 to replace a Symtec.
Is this a wise upgrade?
I've only been turning for about 6 months so need some experienced opinions.
I find that the Symtec gets up some nasty vibrations, possibly due to it's light-weight stand. As yet I have not required the use of the copier set-up.
The Record in question is selling for $3000 with a pile of chucks, chisels,a copier etc.
Is this a good buy?
I look forward to any feedback.
Cheers,
John.

John for that sort of money you could buy a brand new Nova 1624 lathe, chucks and tools.
The record are a well built lathe just a bit behind the times with 3/4" shaft and 1mt tapers.
All current lathes have 2mt tapers with 30mm ot 1-1/4 shafts, a lot more robust.Jim Carroll
