    Default Flowers using peeling technique

I spotted this earlier, and thought it might be of interest to some.

This technique is similar in a way to the method in the video that Bob, (Oldgreybeard), posted a link to the other day, but the peeling is done on the lathe while it's running. I think these are the most realistic turned flowers I've seen to date. Now I've gotta give this a shot too. Can't help myself.

Just before I found this, I spotted some vintage circa 1940 German flowers for sale that were made in exactly the same way, so the idea isn't new.

I almost put this into Bob's thread as a reply, but felt it would be a hijack and OT since these are flowers and not a Xmas tree, hence the new thread.

Edit: I forgot to mention, he turns these flowers on a treadle lathe.

I heard a term in the video that I'd never heard before - coppicing, so just did some reading to find out what it meant.
Pretty interesting read, so I thought I'd post a link to the Wiki article as well. (I might be the only one that's never heard of it.): - Coppicing

Edit: Here's Stuart's website - it's well worth a look, too. Some really good turning history.
    The dates will amaze!

I agree these flowers look much more realistic. Funny though, I've been doing that unintentionally when learning to plane with the skew . Must see if I can do it intentionally.
