Thread: fluteing fun

G'day
Quite a few years ago I was playing round with fluteing and although I made a few nice pieces , there were various problems with my jig and also I had changed lathes so I had to modify my jig and also make a new jig to produce the effect seen in the last two pictures .
The biggest bowl,the red one, which I think is blue gum is 270mm diam. The bowl where the flutes go right through ,is china doll and is 250mm diam.The bowl with the fluteing on the rim is cypress and is 200mm diam.The last pictures shows one of my jigs set up.
One important lesson I have learnt is that one second of error with the router can destroy a couple of hours of preperation on the lathe .
All bowls were finished with DO .
