Goblets
Hi - I'm making a series of turned goblets (from celery top pine) from which I would like to serve wine and beer. Can anyone recommend a safe interior finish (epoxy, cactus juice ...?) which will not leach potentially harmful constituents into the drinks. From what I can judge, food-safe (so called) epoxy is only safe for occasional and limited contact with food, and alcohol is, of course, a better solvent for organic compounds than water alone. Any advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks!

Rustins Plastic coating, Kevin Saunders of SA Woodgroup used this on his set of exceptional display goblets 35 odd years ago (now hidden away in the Museum?) he gave me one when he was assisting me to turn goblets, I use it often it has never needed to be refinished I don't know what the situation would be if a dishwasher was in the equation, once cured like 99% of coatings it is safe. My own goblets were finished with Rustins as well.

Thanks - that sounds like great advice. I've located a source in Australia and will definitely try it out. Since they will never see the inside of a dishwasher (I decided to replace mine with a wine rack - much more useful) that aspect shouldn't be a problem. Cheers, Mervyn

Coat them with glass, then delete the celery top pine.
