Goldiewood ????
I Just picked up a small piece of timber labelled "Goldiewood". It was with other timber from Tasmania and I assume it is from there. I've never heard of it and the only place I can find mention of the name is an oscure reference in a mine environmental assessment report for a project in northern Tas where it shows the species as Monotora glauca. Anyone know this species and any details.

Mototoca glauca, Its a tassie understory species. Slow growing and doesn't get very big. Its a dense wood and should turn quite well.

Its wood is a golden colour (hence its common name), has a fine texture and with fine rays.
Stable once dry but cracks and twists during drying (that;s only a problem in large sizes.) Look forward to seeing the finished item.

Its only a small piece Euge so I'm thinking small finials and other highlight features. Colour and fine grain should work for these. I'll post when I get the chance to use it.
