Hi John Your $20 set from super ??????? ebay etc will probably not be high speed steel so regardless of all else these will be a big improvement for holding an edge They also appear very similar to a set I am using and I have no major complaints . Dont turf the old set I have found these very handy when you want something differant I use one of these and grind to a shape I want . Not bad for $4.00 One I did was for the internal chuck dovetail and although used often its not for long GREAT Anyway enough for now regards and happy turning W.W Wally
